Overview

The AFFF foam fire extinguisher range from FireShield protects against both Class A and Class B fires and is available in sizes: 1Ltr, 2Ltr, 3Ltr, 6Ltr, and 9Ltr.

Class A fires include solid combustible materials like wood, paper, fabric, and plastic.

Class B fires cover flammable liquids like petrol, diesel, oil, alcohol, and solvents.

AFFF foam fire extinguishers are extremely effective against Class B fires involving flammable liquids due to the Aqueous Film Forming Foam quickly smothering the flames and cooling the fire, preventing both spread and reignition.

The foam in these fire extinguishers does not compromise visibility during use, which is important in the event of an emergency.

Manufactured to the highest standards, these extinguishers are UKCA/CE approved and are backed by a 5-year warranty. The 1 litre, 2 litre, and 3 litre models have been manufactured to BS EN3, whilst the 6 Litre and 9Litre sizes are kitemarked to BS EN3 and come MED approved.

Designed to be easy to handle and store, these extinguishers are both lightweight and compact, whilst also being ideal for harsh environments due to their corrosion-resistant materials. Every extinguisher comes with a bracket, and replacement parts are available where necessary.

Frequently asked questions

Foam fire extinguishers can be used on Class A and Class B fires, fires involving combustible solids and liquids.

This includes wood, paper, and fabrics (Class A), as well as petrol, oil, and alcohol (Class B).

Where a foam has been dielectrically tested up to 35,000V, foam extinguishers can be used on electronic items.

A foam fire extinguisher has a red cylinder with a cream-coloured label and white capitalised text.

For a foam fire extinguisher to meet BS EN3 standards, 95% of the body must be red, and the remaining 5% must be covered by the cream-coloured label/band.

Typical use cases for foam fire extinguishers include garages, factories, offices, warehouses, hospitals, and shops. These usually have a water extinguisher with a foam extinguisher for added protection against flammable liquids.

Yes, a foam fire extinguisher can be refilled after use. This also happens when they reach their service date. A refill is the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly option to keep your extinguishers in working order and your properties protected.

Regular maintenance is essential for compliance and safety, which is why OHEAP Fire and Security offers this as a complete service. Book your service with us today!

Every fire extinguisher we supply comes fully serviced and ready to go.

Once a year, your foam fire extinguishers should be serviced by a qualified engineer. This is a basic service checking for pressure, damage, and general condition.

Every five years, fire extinguishers require a full discharge test and refill to ensure they continue to work as expected. An extinguisher should be refilled immediately if it has been used, even slightly.

The type of fire extinguisher you need will depend on the fire type you need to extinguish or protect your property or business from. Checking fire classes will determine this.

  • Class A - Solid Combustibles (wood, paper, cloth, etc.) - Water, Water Additive, Dry Powder, and Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers.

  • Class B - Flammable Liquids (Petrol, Oils, Solvents, etc.) - CO2, Dry Powder, and Foam Fire Extinguishers.

  • Class C - Flammable Gases (Propane, Butane, etc.) - Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers

  • Class D - Flammable Metals (Magnesium, Sodium, Titanium, etc.) - A Specialist Dry Powder (M28, MonneX, and L2).

  • Electrical Fires - CO2 and Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers.

  • Class F - Cooking Fires (Cooking Oils and Fats) - A Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher.

  • Lithium-Ion Battery Fires - Specialist Lithium-Ion or All-Fires Fire Extinguishers (Firexo, LFX, Lith-Ex, and Multimax).

An AFFF foam fire extinguisher creates a thick foam blanket that cools and smothers the fire, cutting off the oxygen supply. This blanket or barrier between the fire and the air prevents re-ignition. Due to this, foam extinguishers are extremely effective on flammable liquid and solid combustible fires.
