Overview

The FireShield ABC Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher is a multi-purpose extinguisher suitable for Class A, B and C fires, together with fires involving live electrical equipment. Its broad range of applications makes it a common choice for workplaces, commercial vehicles, workshops, construction sites and other environments where different fire risks may be present.

Because this single extinguisher can be used on combustible solids, flammable liquids, flammable gases, and electrical equipment, it is often selected where more than one fire hazard exists within the same area.

Manufactured by FireShield, the range is produced to BS EN3 and carries UKCA and CE approval. The 6kg and 9kg models are also MED approved for marine applications. Every extinguisher is supplied with a five-year warranty and features a corrosion-resistant cylinder, brass valve assembly and a durable exterior suitable for demanding working environments.

Dry powder extinguishers are particularly well suited to outdoor locations and large open spaces where wind or ventilation is less likely to concentrate the extinguishing powder. In smaller enclosed rooms, however, the discharged powder can reduce visibility and leave a residue after use. Where the primary fire risk is Class A materials indoors, a water-based extinguisher may be the more appropriate option.

ABC dry powder fire extinguishers have a red cylinder with a blue identification panel to indicate the extinguishing agent. The word "POWDER" is displayed in white lettering on the blue panel, and the extinguisher is fitted with a discharge hose ending in a horn-shaped nozzle, making it easy to distinguish from other extinguisher types.

ABC dry powder fire extinguishers are commonly seen in fabrication industries, industrial units, outside events, garage forecourts, businesses with large boiler rooms, LPG dispensing plants, welding or flame cutting businesses.
